The fiendish musical claw
of the band
THE ORDEAL, founded by
frontman
Oliver Oppermann, descends
upon us with a vengeance,
shredding the thin skin
of reality.
Influenced the great
heavy bands of the 70s,
the band was established
in 2002, in an era overwhelmed by uninspired,
commercial and standardized computer music.
Burning guitar riffs and virtuoso solos over a
whipping heavy bass
and drum section push the mystical lyrics and
melodic voice of
The Ordeal
straight into the middle of
your musical senses. |

Began playing the guitar at the age of nine and discovered early on his interest in composing. His musical influences during the following nine years range from classical music to hard rock, metal and flamenco. Heavy metal is a particular influence, especially Rainbow, Dio, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Saxon and Iron Maiden. After learning electric guitar for nine years as self-educated, and playing in several bands and getting stage experience, he decided to study music. The fascination of the acoustic guitar began with his experience of a Paco de Lucia concert. From the age of 18 he took classical guitar lessons at the conservatory Arnheim NL and directly afterwards started to study the Flamenco guitar with expert Paco Pena at the music conservatory in Rotterdam. In 2001 Oliver Oppermann began working on new metal compositions and decided to start singing. After taking lessons he realised his vocation, and his versatility is shown in the recordings of the CD "Chained to the Dark".
